The foldable smartphone market has been growing steadily over the past few years, thanks in large part to Samsung’s mainstream push for flexible phones. It largely has its way outside of China, with a few rivals offering Z Fold and Z Flip line options. That started to change in 2022 when Motorola, Honor, and Oppo all came to the party with very different ideas about the flexible form factor. Do you know about Oppo Find N2 Flip?
Oppo has created the Find N2 Flip, which is perhaps the most attractive alternative to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip and offers several advantages over the better-known model. While it could be more flawless, Oppo is off to a great start.
There are many reasons why the competition is profitable, but when testing the Oppo Find N2 Flip, two aspects stand out in particular. Cost is first. Oppo’s foldable flip phone, priced at £849 (about $1,025), is currently £150 cheaper than Samsung’s equivalent Galaxy Z Flip 4 when it launched in the UK. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is currently Oppo’s main competitor outside of China.
The other is diversity. To make Samsung’s Z Flip smartphones more portable by folding them from a regular-sized smartphone into a small square, Oppo’s foldable offers a cover display large enough to view notifications and manage features. This indicates that Oppo has a lot of room to expand its use of the foldable device without opening it.
Yes, you still open your phone to complete most tasks at the end of the day. But if you believe Oppo’s durability claims, the Find N2 Flip makes for a surprisingly competitive alternative to the Z Flip 4 as it undercuts Samsung on price while offering a relatively comparable feature set.

Oppo Find N2 Flip Design
One of the best things about the foldable phone market is that every flip phone we’ve seen so far looks really different from the next because different manufacturers have different display and hinge methods. We’ll have more details on the cover display soon, but since it’s located on the front cover, it’s doubtful you’d mistake it for another folding clamshell smartphone.
When you bend the front panel of the Oppo Find N2 Flip to its closed position, it delivers the same “wow” factor as other foldables. The phone’s clamshell form allows the top half to fold over the bottom half in a single motion, making it more portable even if it doesn’t separate when open, and at first glance, it looks like just another Android phone. The procedure is always easy to follow. The case is flush when closed and closes with a pleasing pop. Yes, that’s right—no gap in sight. Samsung, that’s how it’s done.
You can also use and carry it as a “regular” phone because, when opened, it’s the same size and thickness as our Pixel 7 Pro. Additionally, the plastic back cover gives the phone some extra rigidity compared to Google’s flagship model. Although a cover is included in the package, you can get protection without spending extra money on a cover if you don’t operate it in public.
Oppo Find N2 Flip Colour
We tested the black variant (also available in purple), and we found that the matte finish and aluminium frame work well together. It’s sturdy, and the hinge never feels flimsy, which is important for a gadget that gets opened and closed frequently. According to Oppo, the hinge went through 400,000 folds in a durability test. Based on our experience, we have no issues with its power or smoothness.
As for the colour and finish possibilities, that’s about it. Looks like Oppo needs a trick here. We’ve always believed that these small phones, especially the flip-style models, are as much fashion accessories as they are useful pieces of cutting-edge technology. Samsung does a great job of providing different colour options with the possibility to customize your colour scheme. Oppo offers two colours – no more.
The interior hinge and foldable screen are a really notable design element. Like the Motorola and Huawei models, the screen curls into a water-drop shape when the phone is off. This helps guarantee that a line across the screen is not subjected to excessive stress, which would cause a noticeable crease.
With proper lighting and positioning, it is possible to notice this so-called “invisible crease” despite the difficulty. However, it’s more visually intrusive than Samsung’s, and it’s not as obvious when you feel it under your finger. Another advantage of this design is that there is hardly any gap between the two edges of the phone’s display. Another issue that has yet to be addressed in Samsung’s efforts is that the absence of a gap means there is no place for dust and pocket debris to collect.

Despite how helpful it is, Oppo still needs to take the time to certify the Find N2 Flip as dust or water-resistant officially, so it can’t make that claim. That’s unfortunate because, apart from that, the company’s first attempt at a clamshell has a truly intelligent design that’s stunning.
Regarding the longevity of the hinge and flexible display, Oppo claims that they have been approved to survive 400,000 open and close movements. This should provide some confidence that the phone will endure the normal lifespan of a phone. Although the screen isn’t as tough and robust as a conventional smartphone by design, you still have to take a little more care with it than you would with a regular phone because these tests are conducted in a robotic, sterile environment and don’t account for everyday real-life use.
It seems like the hinge itself might be a bit stiff. It’s a little loose and springy, as we found in testing, so that the display can return to its fully upright orientation with little encouragement. It works well for opening it and using it like a standard phone. But you have to be very careful and precise when trying to hold it at an angle. This also means that it can be inadvertently bent with little effort. It doesn’t grip as well when playing games in landscape mode, especially when swiping in the middle of the screen.
Oppo Find N2 Flip display
Now, let’s discuss that wrinkle. Yes, even when foldable are praised for their innovation, we have issues with the ridge running through the centre of these devices. To date, no phone has been able to crack it. Impressively, It is hidden by the Find N2 flip. Sure, if you run your fingertip forward, you’ll feel the crease. But in harsh light — like the sun outside — you won’t be able to see it. When the phone is off, it’s barely noticeable, and when the display is on, it’s almost completely invisible.
There is also a front screen. Time, date, and battery life are the primary features of its 3.26-inch display. Which is comparable in size to the screen on the back of most digital cameras. However, swiping from left to right reveals several personalized apps. You can add other shortcut widgets here, like a calendar and timer. But we used them to show the weather and a menu that instantly opens the camera. While there isn’t much customization, we appreciate that you can choose a background that’s different from the main display, and you can use the front screen to respond to texts quickly.
To be honest, we didn’t use the front screen much on a day-to-day basis, but we like that you can take pictures with the primary 50MP lens when the camera is turned on while it’s off, and it’s convenient to receive notifications without having to constantly. Opening the phone. Excellent resolution is present on both panels, and the primary display’s 120Hz refresh rate makes for a really smooth viewing experience. By far, this is the most effective example of a foldable format we’ve seen.
Oppo Find N2 Flip Software Features
If the phone’s performance could be better, it wouldn’t be enjoyable to use even with the folded shape. Fortunately, that is not the case. We had no problem watching movies, browsing Instagram, or getting updates from the Google Play Store, thanks to the device’s fast processor.
While the ColorOS version of Android on the Find N2 Flip won’t surprise many, we like that it has a section dedicated to foldable features, allowing you to customize the front wallpaper, rearrange widgets, and set quick answers. You can configure multitasking features, select between light and dark modes, and adjust adaptive brightness. You can add apps to a “smart sidebar” that can be accessed by swiping left on the home screen. And you can use two apps at once with a three-finger swipe.
While the default layout is simple, with apps shown as neat squares, it’s unfortunate to discover a few unwanted apps when you first turn on your computer. At the same time, pre-installed apps like Facebook, Zoom, Zen Mode, and Dice Dreams aren’t ideal. The home screen was pretty easy to wipe down and tidy up, so it’s not a deal breaker. As it happens, the meditation software ORelax is surprisingly effective.
Oppo Find N2 Flip Battery And Performance
Without a doubt, the Find N2 Flip is a legitimate flagship phone. Be aware of the fact that the chipset is made by a lesser-known company than Qualcomm. Which believes it’s inferior to the flagship Snapdragon chipset.
In this, Oppo collaborated with Mediatek and opted for the Dimensity 9000+ platform. The same chipset found in the powerful ROG Phone 6D Ultimate. Although its clock is clocked a little slower, it still manages to provide a responsive, fast, and seamless experience. Especially when combined with the internal 120Hz primary display. Throughout our testing period, the phone looked slick and had a fast app and game-loading speed. The user interface is smooth and easy to use.
It runs every game we play flawlessly with fast animations and never compromises quality to keep up. It performs like a legitimate flagship processor, as we’ve already said. Our favourite Mario Karts Tour game will play smoothly for hours without stuttering or overheating.
Unsurprisingly, for its internals, it’s the battery that piques our curiosity the most. Oppo says that every part inside the Flip Phone has been tweaked and changed to fit the battery almost perfectly. Because of this, the Flip has a significantly larger capacity than the Huawei P50 Pocket (4000mAh), Moto Razr 2022 (3500mAh), or Galaxy Z Flip (3700mAh).
Largest Battery
It was rather disappointing that the 4300mAh battery, which is the largest we’ve seen in a phone of this type, doesn’t offer any significant improvement over the competition – perhaps as a result of the larger, more complex cover display.
It lasts longer than the Samsung and has no problem getting through the day. But with fairly moderate use, we often find we’ll dip to around 20% by evening. We wouldn’t try to take it on a second day, and frequent users may find it convenient to keep a charger with them at all times.
When empty, it refills quickly using Oppo’s SuperVOOC flash charging technology. Oddly enough, our phone came with a 67W charger instead of the 44W charger that Oppo says will fully charge it in about an hour. Since the UK doesn’t have any 44W plugs. I need to check the charger to see if it’s set to its fastest speed or if it’s been slowed down. This is how the 67W adapter is packed so that it can be sold in UK shops. We’ve spoken to Oppo directly about this, and we’ll let you know when we hear back.
Oppo Find N2 Flip Camera
Even before testing the Find N2 Flip, we had some reservations about its photography department. Basic camera specifications are nothing new to us. They are consistent with what Oppo and OnePlus have been offering in their flagship phones for years. In other words, a massive 50-megapixel sensor with pixel bins to create larger pixels will improve light, detail, and colour capture. Still, it comes with a subpar ultrawide lens.
Although the Flip has a dedicated zoom camera. It uses sensor cropping in conjunction with a high-resolution primary sensor to provide digital zoom. This allows you to zoom up to 20 times. However, it does mean that the closer you zoom in, the clearer and more detailed the image will be.
When you turn on the Find N2 Flip’s camera, you can choose between two lenses: an 8MP ultrawide and a 50-megapixel (MP) wide lens. The prime lens produces the largest image of the two, which isn’t surprising. We tested it on the rainy streets of London and found that it accurately captured wet pavements with plenty of information visible on the phone’s display. During our testing, ultrawide was much less noticeable. At higher magnifications, images were a little more faded and pixelated.
Oppo Find N2 Flip Camera Comparison
Additionally, Google or Apple phones don’t have the same advanced AI technology at play. You can’t get rid of people you don’t want in pictures. And you can’t use action modes to steady shaky recordings or a macro lens to get clear close-ups. This method is basically point-and-shoot oriented. It’s not a particularly impressive setup. But your images are clear and sharp, and we appreciate the “dual preview” mode that uses the front screen to show what your subject looks like before you press the shutter.
When closed, the N2 Flip is a selfie enthusiast’s dream, although the primary lens is mediocre. You can use the 50MP lens instead of the front-facing lens. Which has a lower resolution because the main lens focuses directly on the subject. If you are an avid user of social media, then this is perfect for you as it offers much more detail than a typical selfie camera.
Oppo Find N2 Flip Good Looks
The Oppo Find N2 Flip folds to about 3.3 × 3 inches, making it almost square. It fits nicely in a small purse or a snug jeans pocket. The black review unit has a smooth, elegant texture that improves hold. The Oppo logo is engraved on the glossy spine, and the hinge mechanism is seamless. When unfolded, the Oppo Find N2 Flip measures 6.8 inches. Which is the ideal size for a premium smartphone and about the same as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and Google’s Pixel 7 Pro.
It’s interesting to consider that the external display is almost the same size as the actual smartphone screen. It’s big at 3.26 inches for a clamshell phone but too small for anything more than quickly responding to messages and viewing notifications. Nevertheless, it has a few tricks up its sleeve. With the main camera, you can use it as a viewfinder to take great selfies. You can also swipe to cycle between useful, customizable widgets that show media controls, local weather, and your calendar.
When you open the Find N2 Flip, an AMOLED display greets you. There are 2,520 x 1,080 pixels on the screen, and you can turn it up to 1,600 nits bright. The frame rate can be changed from 60 Hz to 120 Hz. Put another way, it’s bright, sharp and responsive. The screen’s matte finish is ideal for folding phones. Yet it’s comfortable to read and easily readable from the outside, thanks to the absence of reflections. You can feel and see the inevitable wrinkles when you swipe and tap the screen, but it’s not that noticeable.
The best thing about a small clamshell
The best thing about a small clamshell is that you can open it to take a call and close it to finish one. Oppo claims the folding process is smooth and can withstand 400,000 folds, so there’s no need to limit yourself. Although I usually need both hands to open it, it feels well-made.
It’s best to keep it dry as it doesn’t have an IP classification for water resistance. It would be best if you cleaned it periodically to keep it clean, as both the hinge and lip around the primary screen collect pocket lint. And stains are more problematic on matte screens. The problem with folding phones, in general, is that it’s hard to predict how gracefully they will age.
Oppo Find N2 Flip (Bet or Fold)
Here, the title is folding design. Oppo decided to use cheap hardware in the Find N2 Flip. But it is still priced fairly compared to other smartphones. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S23, Google Pixel 7 Pro, or Apple iPhone 14. It’s significantly more attractive, though it may need to be smoother and more efficient in photography. They’re all available at similar prices, and if you are okay with folding, they might be better options.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and the incoming Motorola Razr+ are obvious contenders for the foldable-curious consumer base. Samsung makes more use of the form factor in its software, while Oppo’s Find N2 Flip is significantly less expensive. It’s adorable, petite, and sophisticated — making it the ideal foldable for someone without big pockets.
Oppo Find N2 Flip Drawbacks
What surprised us about the Find N2 Flip was how few problems we had with it. However, there are some things to be aware of. The button layout comes first. The volume and power buttons are difficult to reach with one hand when the phone is open, as they are located on the top edge of the shell. This makes it difficult to adjust the volume quickly. We love how easy it is to close, but if you try to open it again without using two hands, you might stumble.
The second is that, in everyday use, the front screen could be more useful. Even though the size is great for carrying in your pocket, we’ve mostly used the phone with the cover off, so the small screen has only shown the time. Nevertheless, we still love it. Not only is there no water resistance, but the camera performance is below what we are used to from a flagship.
Oppo Find N2 Flip Verdict
Since the OPPO Find N2 puts a larger vertical screen on the flip cover. It’s one of the first flip phones that actually makes me excited about the category. I’m not sure if it’s just the novelty of a new type of device. But even though I find myself using the cover screen to check notifications. I usually look at it before opening the phone.
While I wish all phones could do this, OPPO has put a lot of thought into the flip phone experience. And the cover screen is the best execution I’ve ever seen. Cover screen widgets are particularly noteworthy. The hinge feels like we’re getting closer to moving away from the crease. It’s a significant improvement over previous models.
My first concern when choosing a phone is its camera. And the Find N2 flips are just not good enough for me because of the extra processing. Also, the picture quality might be better than on cheaper smartphones that don’t flip.
